Battle of the Blends!

Welcome to your latest The Tasting Vault selection.

Hey there whiskey lover,

Your latest The Tasting Vault pack is on the way, or may have already landed.

This month, we explore the art of Irish blending — and just how different it can be.

These are all blended-style whiskeys. But don’t let that fool you.

Because blending isn’t about uniformity. It’s about composition.

How grain, malt, and pot still whiskey are brought together.
How different casks shape flavour.
How balance is created — or deliberately pushed.

From the soft, spice-led profile of Fercullen Falls, to the layered complexity of Bart’s with its multiple cask influences (including a touch of peat), to the bold, citrus-driven character of Blacks’ IPA finish — each whiskey shows just how wide the spectrum of Irish blending can be.

Same category. Completely different outcomes.

That’s the beauty of it.

We can’t wait to hear which one stands out to you most.

Here’s what’s waiting in your glasses 👇

🥃 Fercullen Falls Small Batch 43%

Produced at Powerscourt Distillery in County Wicklow, Fercullen Falls reflects a modern approach to Irish blending — one focused on balance, softness, and drinkability rather than intensity. By combining different whiskey styles with a careful hand, the result is a smooth, spice-led profile that feels both polished and approachable.

Nose: Cinnamon, orchard fruits and brown sugar
Palate: Soft and rounded with vanilla sweetness, malt spice and a peppery lift
Finish: Warm, drying, with clove and gentle spice

A refined and easy-drinking opener — this is blending used to create harmony, not noise.

🥃 Lough Ree Distillery Bart's Whiskey - 46%

Bart’s Whiskey from Lough Ree Distillery showcases a more layered approach to blending, where multiple whiskey styles and cask influences — including a subtle touch of peat — are brought together to build depth and character. It’s a great example of how modern Irish producers are using blending as a tool for complexity rather than consistency.

Nose: Honeyed cereal, baked apple and a hint of vanilla
Palate: Orchard fruits with soft grain sweetness and gentle spice
Finish: Smooth, warming, with a faint wisp of smoke

Balanced but expressive — this is where blending starts to get interesting.

🥃 Blacks Distillery Citrus galaxy IPA CASK - 43%

Blacks Distillery, based in Kinsale, has built a reputation for pushing boundaries, and this IPA cask finish is a perfect example. By combining brewing and distilling expertise, they introduce bold citrus, hop influence, and a subtle bitterness rarely seen in Irish whiskey, showing just how far blending and finishing can go.

Nose: Grapefruit zest, malt biscuit and pine resin
Palate: Creamy malt layered with citrus hops, tropical fruit and caramel
Finish: Dry, zesty, with a subtle bitterness

Bright, modern, and unconventional — a completely different expression of Irish whiskey.
